Upcoming Professional Day of Learning

The SPFT Teaching & Learning Center, in partnership with Metro Area Council and Education Minnesota, is hosting a day of professional learning for all St. Paul Federation of Teachers members and other members of the Metro Area Council  on Saturday, April 15, 2017  from 7:30am to 3:00pm at the Eduction Minnesota office in Saint Paul.

General Information:

Date:  Saturday, April 15, 2017

Location:  Education Minnesota Building, 41 Sherburne Ave., St. Paul, MN 55103

Cost:  $15.00 non-refundable registration fee for FULL members of the Metro Area Council

$59.00 non-refundable registration fee for Fair Share members

Time:  7:30-3:00

A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

6.0 Clock hours will be awarded at the end of the professional learning day.


7:30-8:00                       Check-In/Light Breakfast

8:00-10:00                     Session 1

10:10-12:10                    Session 2

12:10-1:00                     Lunch

1:00-3:00                       Session 3

Break-out sessions include: 

Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies, English Language Learners, Reading Seminar, Accommodations/Modifications, Student Mental Health, Technology/Digital Learning Strategies, Strengthening School-Home Partnerships.

Break-out sessions offered will meet re-licensure requirements.


Professional Development

The Saint Paul Federation of Teachers is dedicated to providing high quality, research-based, professional development for its members. SPFT’s professional development program is a union-sponsored, professional development program that puts proven research-based strategies into the hands of educators. Its potential to change teaching and learning is unlimited.

SPFT Members: SPFT and St. Paul Public Schools are pleased to offer the following courses to St. Paul educators. All enrollment is done online through the SPPS, PDExpress system.  Visit the SPPS website at  to register for these courses.  You will need a user name and password.

Other Educators: Are you an educator who doesn’t live in Saint Paul? The SPFT Teaching and Learning Center offers professional development to educators beyond our union throughout the year. Educators are welcome to register for current course offerings or you can contract with our Teaching and Learning Center to offer a class for members of your organization. A form with prices and schedules is available for you to fill out here.
